Production Officer / Chemist

Job Description

Star Hi Herbs Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Production Officer / Chemist for its Amino Acid manufacturing division. The role involves supervising and controlling the amino acid production process to ensure efficient output, consistent product quality, GMP compliance, workplace safety, and achievement of production targets. The position reports to the Production Manager / Plant Head and operates within the herbal, nutraceutical, and amino acid manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise day to day amino acid production activities.
• Operate and monitor production processes, equipment, and utilities as per SOPs.
• Ensure production is carried out according to approved batch manufacturing records and process parameters.
• Monitor critical parameters such as temperature, pH, pressure, reaction time, concentration, and yield.
• Coordinate with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Stores, and EHS departments.
• Ensure proper raw material identification, weighing, charging, processing, and material handling.
• Maintain production records, batch records, logbooks, checklists, and other required documentation.
• Investigate process deviations, breakdowns, quality issues, and production losses, and support corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, HACCP, ISO requirements, and company safety procedures.
• Monitor production output, productivity, rejection, yield, and process losses.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement.
• Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of production equipment and manufacturing areas.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, raw materials, and finished products.
• Train and guide operators and production workers on SOPs, GMP, safety, and process requirements.
• Ensure proper shift handover and effective communication between production teams.
• Support new product trials, process validation, scale up, and technology transfer activities.
• Prepare daily and monthly production reports and submit them to the Production Manager.
• Ensure minimum downtime through coordination with the Maintenance team.
• Participate in internal audits, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and GMP inspections.

Requirements

• 2 to 3 years of experience in amino acid production.
• Experience in batch production, process control, GMP documentation, and production equipment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing and process operations.
• Working knowledge of GMP, SOP, HACCP, and safety practices.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to monitor process parameters and troubleshoot production issues.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Good communication and team management skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts, if required.

Qualifications

• B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
• Diploma in Chemical Engineering may be considered for suitable candidates with relevant experience.
